If you look over my play list you can tell I love burgers… This is simply my favorite stuffed smoked burger. The Smoked Belly Buster Burger started as a simple recipe that evolved over time. This was he FIRST burger I learned to smoke years ago so it has evolved and been perfected for a long time now.
Smoked Belly Buster Burger Recipe
Total Time 1 hour hr
Ingredients
- 3 lbs 80/20 ground beef
- 1/2 lbs maple sausage
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 Large Sweet Onion
- Cheddar cheese
- 4 oz. Sun dried tomatoes
- Garlic powder
- 1/2 Jar beef gravy
- Worcestershire sauce
- 1 egg
- 9 Slices Bacon
- BBQ Sauce
- 1 Cup Sweet Baby Ray's
- 1 Cup Cherry Dr. Pepper
- 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
Instructions
- 1. In Medium Bowl mix the Sweet Baby Ray's, Cherry Doctor Pepper, and your brown sugar. Once thoroughly mixed, set aside until ready for use.
- 2. In a large bowl mix the ground beef and maple sausage. Add in sun dried tomatoes. Once completely mixed add your Egg, Worcestershire sauce (yes I know I pronounce it wrong every single time I say it lol), Garlic Powder. Thoroughly mix all together.
- 3. Slice your Onions, melt 2 Tbsp of butter in a skillet and drop the onions in along with 1 Tbsp of Worcestershire sauce. Cook until onions caramelize. Reduce heat and add in 1/2 Jar of beef gravy and allow to simmer uncovered for 10 – 15 minutes.
- 4. While your onions are cooking make your bacon.
- 5. With your meat mixture form 6 burger patties. You can use block cheddar like I did or you can use slices. If you use slices use a glass or cookie cutter to make them slightly smaller then your patties. Lay down your bottom patty, next put your cheddar on top then your sautéed onions and top with bacon. I add salt pepper and oregano, though you can season it how you want. Then close it up with another patty. Make sure you seal it completely so you don't lose any of your stuffing while cooking.
- 6. Smoke the burgers for about 1-1/2hours, basting them with the BBQ sauce you made earlier. Once done go ahead add another coat of sauce.
Notes
Slap this baby on a bun and it’s ready to go. You really don’t need to add anything on top of it, this bigger is freakin’ awesome as is! Trust me this bigger is a MUST try! You will love it!
