Apple Jalapeno Barbecue Sauce

So I have been playing with barbecue sauces for sometime now. I made my first plain one about a year and a half ago and once I figured out the base of a good sauce I started spinning outwards and just experimenting with flavors. I know I have typically gone ahead and filmed everything and thrown it on YouTube but things like this Apple Jalapeno Barbecue Sauce are so simple there is no need for a video to be attached. So I decided I am going to create a category on the website here devoted to sauces. This one is perfect to open it up with. This is a simple sweet sauce with a little bit of kick that is easily adjustable. When prepping your Jalapeno peppers if you leave the seeds in you will get more of kick out of the recipe, if you decide you don’t want it as strong it is as simple as seeding the jalapeno before making your sauce. Bam! Now you have a sauce with the heat tailored to your specific tastes. This one almost immediately got over in my house with both my son and my wife loving it.

Apple Jalapeno Barbecue Sauce

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 25 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes

Ingredients
  

  • 1-1/2 Cups Ketchup
  • 1 Cup Apple Juice
  • 1/3 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. Molasses
  • Black Pepper
  • 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tbsp. Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp. Celery Salt
  • 1 tsp. Coriander
  • 1 Jalapeno finely diced

Instructions
 

  • In sauce pan, combine all ingredients and whisk together.
  • Cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 25 minutes.
  • Transfer to lidded jar and chill over night before use.

Notes

  1. This will last a couple of weeks in the refrigerator.
