Bacon Jam Burger

So watching my channel it has to be apparent I am on a quest to create the most perfect burger ever created. No seriously this is not a joke I am in love with burgers. To that end I have been making burgers like crazy, every summer I go out and grill and test and play. Well for this burger I was just sitting there thinking that I wanted to make Bacon Jam. So decided I would use the channel as an excuse to make Bacon Jam lol and film something made with it. That’s when I said I want a Bacon Jam Burger! What exactly would be on it though, well I figured if this burger was about the bacon jam I don’t want to over whelm it with a bunch of different flavors so I kept this one pretty simple. I think though that the goat cheese I topped this burger with is the one thing that really makes this burger POP! The two flavors, the goat cheese and the bacon jam balanced off of each other so well. I don’t know that I want to say yet this is my perfect burger but this one is honestly one of my top 3 burgers I have ever made. This one is a MUST try!!!

Do you have an amazing burger recipe that I need to try? Hit me up and let me know what it is.

Bacon Jam Burger Recipe

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 44 minutes
Total Time 1 hour
Servings 4

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Ground Beef
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1-1/2 lb. Bacon Chopped
  • 1 Cup Sweet Onion Chopped
  • 2 Cups Shallots Chopped
  • 4 Garlic Cloves Chopped
  • 1 tsp. Chili Powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Paprika
  • 1/2 Cup Bourbon
  • 1/2 Cup Maple Syrup
  • 1/4 Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
  • Lettuce Chopped
  • Tomato Sliced
  • Soft Goat Cheese

Instructions

  • Chop and cook the bacon in two frying pans to allow for room for it to crisp up properly. Cook over medium heat until it browns perfectly. You want the bacon a little crisper with as little visible fat as possible. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess fat off.
  • While Bacon is frying, make your burger patties and salt and pepper them.
  • Leave about 1 to 2 tablespoons of the fat in one of the pan. Add chopped shallot and onion to the pan, cook over medium heat until they start to caramelize. Add the garlic and cook for about one more minute.
  • Add the chili powder and smoked paprika, stir to combine.
  • Increase heat to high and add the bourbon (carefully) and maple syrup. Bring to a boil, stir and scrape the pan so all the little bacon bits comes loose Continue boiling for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Add vinegar and brown sugar, continue to boil for about 3 minutes.
  • Toss the bacon into the pan, reduce heat to low and simmer for about 10 minutes, the mixture will thicken and look jam like in the process.
  • This is when I would take my burgers to the grill and have them going while my Jam is on the stove top.
  • Turn off the stove top, jam will continue to thicken at this point.
  • When your burgers are done you are ready to assemble these. Spread jam on the bottom bun, place the burger patty on next spread on the goat cheese and top with lettuce and tomato..
  • Tear into one of the best burgers you will EVER try!!
