Hopefully you all had a great weekend this past weekend. It is starting to get colder here in the Chicago area. Which means it’s time for more comfort food to keep you warm cozy and happy. I love a good pot pie, but thought why not do something different. Well here it is a Pizza Pot Pie! The great thing about this recipe is it is soooo easy to customize. You like Mushrooms? Great add them in with the garlic, see simple any pizza topping you like will work with this pot pie. So go ahead and make this one. The Best Pizza Pot Pie Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. Olive Oil
- 1 Bell Pepper Chopped
- 1 Onion Chopped
- 1 lb. Italian Sausage
- 1/4 Cup Flour
- 2 Garlic Cloves Minced
- 1 tsp. Oregano
- 2 Cups Pizza Sauce
- 1 Refrigerated Pizza Dough
- 2 Cups Mozzarella Shredded
- 1/3 Cup Pepperoni Sliced
- Salt
- Pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400˚
- Add about 1 Tbsp. of olive oil to a cast iron skillet, and in onions, and bell pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes until the vegetables start to soften.
- Add sausage into the pan the pan break up and cook until completely browned. Add flour and stir so everything is coated nicely then add in your seasoning, salt and pepper. Stir in pizza sauce and remove from heat.
- Add mozzarella cheese over the filling, and lay the pizza dough over the top of everything. Brush with the remaining olive oil, and top with pepperoni slices.
- Place in the oven for about 40 minutes, until the dough is a golden brown.
- Allow to cool for about 5 to 10 minutes slice and serve.
