So dad was over today and as usual when Dad comes over we make Puerto Rican food (this time around he makes an appearance hanging out in the back ground… making sure I do it right lol). Any way we made Picadillo de Carne one of the building blocks of great Puerto Rican food. Things like empanadas, alcapurria, piononos and Relleno de Papa.
Puerto Rican Picadillo de Carne

Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp Achiote Oil
- 1/4 Cup Sofrito here is a recipe for Sofrito: https://youtu.be/s9IZT3v1P2Y
- 1/4 Cup Alcaparrado or coarsely chopped pimento olives
- 1 lb. Ground Beef
- 2 Tbsp Tomato Paste
- Salt & Pepper
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large skillet over a medium high heat, add Sofrito and alcaparrado(olives) cook and stir until likes has evaporated and sofrito is sizzling about 5 minutes.
- Add beef breaking it up and browning, keep cooking until the liquid once again evaporates, stir in the tomato sauce cook for another couple of minutes. Salt and Pepper to your taste.

This is a really easy recipe and is a must have if you are planing any real kind of Puerto Rican menu. Hope you guys had fun and enjoy this one!
