Pre-Heat oven to 400˚.
In large bowl mix together flour, thyme, paprika, ginger, allspice, red pepper flake, salt and pepper. Set about 1 Tbsp aside then, toss steak in remaining mixture, toss until completely coated
In cast iron skillet, heat oil over medium heat add onions and steak. Cook for about 10 minutes. The onions will be tender and steak will be browned on all sides.
Add in garlic and allow to go about 1 minute until garlic is fragrant. mix in reserved flour mixture. Then slowly add in beef broth, stir until completely smooth. Add sweet potatoes and bring to a boil, lower heat and allow to simmer for 20 minutes. Add in kale until it just starts to wilt and turn off heat.
Fit puff pastry over the skillet and tuck or cut sides. Brush with beaten egg and bake for 15 minutes. Before serving allow to rest about 5 minutes.
