Guinness Battered Onion Rings

Hey guys we made it to Friday! YES!!! I decide I needed at least one more St. Patrick’s Day type of recipe.. with out being straight St. Patrick’s Day lol so I went with some Guinness Battered Onion Rings. Yup these are some TRUE next level onion rings that you guys will totally fall in love with. So go ahead crack a Guinness open use some for the recipe, drink some of it and kick your feet up and enjoy this amazing recipe! How to Make Guinness Battered Onion Rings

Total Time 45 minutes
Course Appetizer, Side Dish, Snack
Cuisine American, Italian
Servings 6 Servings

Ingredients
  

Dipping Sauce:

  • 3/4 Cup Mayonnaise
  • 1/4 Cup Dijon Mustard
  • 2 Tbsp. Honey
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Guinness Battered Onion Rings:

  • 2 Large Onions
  • 1 Cup Cornstarch
  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1-1/2 tsp. Paprika
  • 1 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1-1/2 Cup Guinness Beer
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions
 

  • Peel the onions and cut across making thick rings. Separate and place the rings into a large bowl of ice water for about 15 minutes.
  • While the onions soak, in a small bowl whisk together all of the ingredients for the dipping sauce. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • Heat your oil to 350˚F. Place cornstarch in a large bowl. In a second bowl mix together flour, paprika, baking powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper to paste. Whisk in enough Guinness to form a lump free batter close to pancake batter.
  • Remove the onions from the water and pat dry. dredge in the cornstarch, then the Guinness batter. Place in heated oil and allow to fry for about 1 to 2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from oil and place on a paper towel.
  • Salt and serve with dipping sauce.
