Steak and Sweet Potato Pie

Hey guys, hopefully everyone is ready to have an awesome weekend. I decided to throw down and do a full one skillet dinner. We are making a Steak and Sweet Potato Pie! The great thing about about these kind of dinners is you prep it throw it in the oven and you have no need for side dishes… I mean heck we can still add some if we want though lol. This is one of those down home meals that just about everyone who tries it will totally love it. So go ahead and make this for your family, and when you do make it make sure to take pix and post it to my Facebook page!

Steak and Sweet Potato Pie Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Puff Pastry
  • 1 lb. Tenderloin Steak Tips
  • 2 Cups Beef Broth
  • 2 Cups Kale
  • 1 Cup Onion Sliced
  • 1/4 Cup Flour
  • 1 Sweet Potato Peeled and Cubed
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Garlic Clove
  • 2 Tbsp. Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Tbsp. Thyme
  • 1/2 tsp. Paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. Ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. Allspice
  • 1/8 tsp. Red Pepper Flake
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions
 

  • Pre-Heat oven to 400˚.
  • In large bowl mix together flour, thyme, paprika, ginger, allspice, red pepper flake, salt and pepper. Set about 1 Tbsp aside then, toss steak in remaining mixture, toss until completely coated
  • In cast iron skillet, heat oil over medium heat add onions and steak. Cook for about 10 minutes. The onions will be tender and steak will be browned on all sides.
  • Add in garlic and allow to go about 1 minute until garlic is fragrant. mix in reserved flour mixture. Then slowly add in beef broth, stir until completely smooth. Add sweet potatoes and bring to a boil, lower heat and allow to simmer for 20 minutes. Add in kale until it just starts to wilt and turn off heat.
  • Fit puff pastry over the skillet and tuck or cut sides. Brush with beaten egg and bake for 15 minutes. Before serving allow to rest about 5 minutes.
